| I MOVED TO CHICAGO! |
After almost 2 years in Dallas, Texas, I moved to Chicago couple of months ago. It was long overdue, not that long but 8 months. I took my first trip to chicago a year ago, end of February beginning of March, and as soon as I landed in O'hare I knew I was home, well it was when my uber dropped me off at my hotel
the Hilton Chicago/Magnificent Mile Suites. I really liked that hotel, had some the best views of Mag mile. A bit outdated but worth the views for me. If you take the walking Architecture tour it's also one of the buildings of the tour which is cool.I don't understand why I never thought to visit Chicago even though Kanye made sure to let us know that Summertime Chi was the best! Of course I hear of how awesome Chicago is, how beautiful the skyline is from natives via the internet but always thought surely it can't be that nice, it's probably overhyped. That's what I thought as a New Yorker cause to me New York is the epicenter of the world and no city compares which is true, but Chicago is different....
The reason why I did not believe what I'd heard about Chicago is because as someone who has traveled a lot, it's fascinating how airline/booking websites always have the coolest skyline pictures of a city and you get there and it's only two tall buildings 🤔 Almost always disappointed. So I always expect less. Again NYC'S skyline is pretty hard to beat.
What prompted this move? On a random December night I was looking for a free movie to watch on AmazonPrime since I no longer have prime, I randomly clicked on this movie called Return to me, which was not random at all looking back, it was fate. The movie sets in Chicago, more specifically this 2000 romantic comedy where a gorilla named Sidney plays a heartwarming and central role. Not really a movie about Chicago, honestly I solely wanted to visit just to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo and meet Sidney and what I saw when I landed was beyond my wildest dreams. Instantly felt home(I vlogged my first trip, watch it here), I could not believe my eyes, how stunning this city is. I thought actually, Chicago is not hyped up enough. As someone who dreamed of living in Europe for quite awhile now, Chicago feels like the perfect bridge between the US & Europe. Chicago has the most stunning architecture. It's truly a sight for sore eyes. If don't believe me, come see for yourself...
